I take products from first sketch to final build, working with designers and engineers to challenge category conventions.
About
Product & Devsigner for the past 20 years
I started by teaching in my small town's Mac OS community. Mobile phones drew me into mechanical engineering and physical product design. Then the screen became more interesting than the object around it. I moved through agencies, early-stage startups, growth-stage teams, and finally AAOA.studio.
Education, engineering, digital: the work stays the same, only the language changes.
Over time, the process produces less documentation and more judgment. What looks like intuition is pattern recognition built over decades: a poster I saw in Italy in 2015 can solve a layout problem ten years later; a kiosk in a language I could not read can change how I think about information hierarchy. The case studies here show that judgment: the shipped work, the collaborators behind it, and the thinking that came before any tool was opened.
